Help Families Get the Treatments They Require
There are few Autism Spectrum treatment resources available in the East Bay, and the cost and financial burden for families seeking these treatments is often unmanageable. Additionally, these treatments are not funded by most health insurance programs.
Our foundation’s goal is to make comprehensive biomedical treatments for Autism available to families who are unable to afford them. Donations will go directly to funding the goals of the Foundation. Our Board members are all volunteers, and we are committed to keeping administrative costs as low as possible to remain true to our mission.
Who gets the money ?
VAST Foundation generates funds for the purpose of providing financial assistance to individuals who would benefit from biomedical treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorders. Some of the treatments that the organization supports include biomedical testing, needed nutritional supplements, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and chelation of heavy metals.
Individuals applying for financial assistance for medical treatment will be selected through a formal qualification process:
- The applicants will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. The applicants will complete a VAST application and questionnaire. The application and questionnaire will be screened by a minimum of 3 VAST board members to ensure that applicants meet the eligibility requirements including: earning 50% or less of the area's median income and being able to commit to treatment compliance for at least a minimum period.
- We will obtain applicants from a variety of sources including: word of mouth, associations, professionals who diagnose and provide services to affected individuals, as well as referrals from the county and other community outreach groups. We will also advertise in local periodicals to provide additional exposure for the assistance program.
- No Board members or officers of the organization, members of their immediate family, or persons having a business relationship with such persons are eligible for participation in the program.
- Initially, the project will focus on Alameda County and, specifically, the Tri-Valley area.
This organization will fund research projects conducted by biomedical practitioners. These practitioners have access to a large amount of medical data concerning their clients. Analysis and publication of their experiences would be of great benefit to the public at large.
Finally, this organization will continuously explore ways to educate the public on the latest biomedical treatments available for autism spectrum disorders.
